Round connectors are drawn end-on and plugs from the side, at one shared scale within each group. Under each drawing is the size its named standard fixes.
A balanced connection (XLR and TRS) carries identical signals with inverted phase across (+) and (-) wires.
Interference along the cable affects both conductors identically (Common Mode noise).
The differential receiver flips the (-) conductor by 180° and adds it to (+): signal doubles (2S) while noise completely cancels out (N - N = 0).
