Each numeral is one hour for the short hand and five minutes for the long one. Under every dial is the way that time is said aloud.
It moves all the time instead of jumping: at half past two it stands exactly between the 2 and the 3. So read the numeral it has already passed, not the nearest one.
That’s also why the hands don’t meet at 1:05. They meet at 1:05:27 — and in twelve hours that happens eleven times, not twelve.
Why the numbers can be trusted. Every countable number here is computed from data rather than typed in, and the sheet must pass 7 independent checks before it is allowed to build — how many items there are, the order they come in, and the claim in the highlighted box itself. If one fails, there is no file.
