The band in the middle is the whole registry to scale. A suffix tells the structure: anything +json parses as JSON, even when the type is unknown.
RFC 4329 (2006) registered both text/javascript and application/javascript — and marked the text/* ones obsolete, to push people towards application/*. The industry stayed on text/javascript.
RFC 9239 (2022) turned the entry around: the note "OBSOLETED in favor of text/javascript" now sits on application/javascript, application/ecmascript, text/ecmascript, and the document itself adds that "Future registrations should not view this as a repeatable precedent".
Why the numbers can be trusted. Every countable number here is computed from data rather than typed in, and the sheet must pass 8 independent checks before it is allowed to build — how many items there are, the order they come in, and the claim in the highlighted box itself. If one fails, there is no file.
