ICE AND WATER, NOT ICE ALONE

A dry heap of cubes touches the bottle at a few points, and between them sits air. The thermal conductivity of air is 0.026 W/(m·K), of water 0.60: a difference of nearly twenty-three times.

Pour water into the bucket up to the shoulder of the bottle and the gap disappears. The same bottle with the same ice chills about five times faster than in the fridge — every minute figure in the rows comes from that difference.

A freezer is worse here than a fridge: it is also air, merely colder, and a bottle forgotten in it costs a cork.

Every countable number here is computed from data rather than typed in, and the sheet must pass 4 independent checks before it is allowed to build — how many items there are, the order they come in, and the claim in the highlighted box itself. If one fails, there is no file.
